Prof. Riccardo Pietrabissa

Full Professor of Industrial Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano. Currently, he teaches “Endoprothesis Design” and “Patent and Intellectual Property”. He devoted his scientific research activities to experimental and computational biomechanics in the cardiovascular, orthopaedic and tissue engineering, especially concerning prostheses, biomechanical models for artificial-natural functional interfaces and numerical simulation of biological structures. He is co-author of about 200 publications, about 90 in peer reviewed journals. During the last 15 years he devoted his activity to technology transfer in several public research organizations. In 2001 he established the Politecnico di Milano patent service and the Technology Transfer Office. From 2005 to 2010 he has been Vice rector of Politecnico di Milano. In 2002 he was among the founders of the Italian Network for Technology Transfer (Netval) and Presidente of Netval till 2013. From 2010 to 2012 he has been Director of the ICT Department of the National Research Council (CNR). From 2013 to 2016 he has been responsible for the strategic plan of the University of Brescia Health&Wealth. He is Member of the General Scientific Council of National Research Council, CNR. He is President of the Technical and Scientific Committee of Area Science Park, Trieste.
