Prof. Wim Vanhaverbeke, Professor of Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Surrey Business School (UK) and visiting professor at ESADE Business School delivered a remarkable presentation on ‘Digital technologies, business model innovation & innovation ecosystem management’. Mr. Vanhaverbeke examined the three industries of energy, healthcare, and precision agriculture to explore new forms of collaboration in the innovation ecosystem of these sectors. During his speech, he divided digital technologies into two categories: 1. Traditional digital technologies (such as Uber and Airbnb) 2. New digital technologies (such as Phillips, etc.) and explained the differences between the two structures. He also spoke in detail about the characteristics and complexities of the structure of the innovation ecosystem influenced by new digital technologies, citing real-life examples and projects, and also enumerated the implications of business process changes. Ultimately, he proposed some solutions for managing traditional innovation ecosystems (unipolar ecosystem management) and new innovation ecosystems (multipolar ecosystem management).
