Dr. Vincenzo Lipardi

He led the establishment of Città della Scienza, with the creation of the first Science Centre in Italy and of the Business Innovation Centre for the creation of new start-ups. From 2005 to 2011, he was Head of the Institutional Communication and Information Society Department of Naples City Council, where he developed the City Plan for the Society of Knowledge. In 2008 he was appointed member of the General Council of the Universal Forum of Cultures held in Naples in 2014. He has been heavily involved in the promotion of scientific culture at an international level by leading many European projects related to science and society, and by promoting a cooperative peace project in the Middle East institutions. In 2013, he promoted the creation of EMME (Euro-Mediterranean and Middle East) Summer School, an International school for leaders in scientific and cultural centers, supporting ECSITE in being more active in the international arena. From 2011, he leads the Sino-Italian Exchange Event, an innovative exchange platform developed in partnership with the Beijing Association for Science and Technology to promote Italian research outcomes and innovative skills, especially in the high-tech sectors, towards China. From 2012 he is Responsible for the organization of the National event China-Italy Innovation Forum on behalf of the Italian Ministry for Education, Universities and Research aimed at reinforcing the cooperation among Italian and Chinese innovative systems in the field of Science and Technology. In November 2015, he received the Award of excellence by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology for his contribution to the cooperation among China and Italy in science and technology. After serving as President of ECSITE between 2007 and 2009, he is currently Board Member of the ECSITE network. He is board member of the EBN Network, the European Business Network, as representative of all Italian BICs. He is also Member of the Executive Committee of the ITTN (International Technology Transfer Network). He has published many articles on the role of science and innovation in today’s society.
